MARIPOSA County
Childcare Feasibility Study
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Childcare is essential for families, employers, and the local economy. This study will help Mariposa County identify real needs, close service gaps, and develop lasting, community-driven solutions that reflect our rural values and challenges.
Why This Study Matters
The primary purpose of the Mariposa County Childcare Feasibility Study is to provide a comprehensive report on the County’s childcare needs and barriers, while also identifying a viable childcare framework to meet the need. More specifically, this study will help provide an overview and analysis of the County’s childcare market, including a complete inventory of current childcare businesses and licensed daycare providers; an evaluation of childcare needs and gaps in services; and the development of strategies to meet the childcare need that fits within the County’s unique rural character. In Mariposa County, previous studies were conducted in 2009 and 2019. Building on two previous surveys, this 2025 study will provide updated data and fresh insights into the evolving landscape of childcare. It reflects current realities shaped by changes in funding, emerging community needs, and the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This new survey aims to capture how these factors are influencing access to care, affordability, and the overall availability and quality of childcare services.
